Background of the study:
Human thermoregulation is the ability to maintain a stable internal temperature despite external environmental fluctuations. In high-humidity environments such as Ijebu North, the efficiency of thermoregulatory mechanisms is challenged by the reduced capacity for evaporative cooling. Recent studies indicate that individuals in such climates may develop adaptive responses, including increased sweat production and cardiovascular adjustments, to maintain homeostasis (Olu, 2023). Furthermore, genetic factors may influence these adaptive responses, determining individual variations in thermoregulatory efficiency (Balogun, 2024). The interplay between high humidity and thermoregulation has significant implications for physical performance, occupational health, and overall well-being. This study seeks to investigate the mechanisms of human thermoregulation in high-humidity environments, specifically focusing on residents of Ijebu North. By analyzing physiological responses and potential genetic predispositions, the research aims to contribute to the development of health strategies that mitigate heat-related stress and enhance adaptation in challenging climates (Adebola, 2025).
Statement of the problem:
Despite the known challenges of high-humidity environments, there is a lack of detailed research on the mechanisms of human thermoregulation in Ijebu North. Insufficient data on physiological and genetic factors limits the development of effective strategies to combat heat stress. This study aims to fill this gap by examining adaptive thermoregulatory responses among local residents.

Research Hypotheses:
Significance of the study:
This study is significant as it provides insights into the physiological and genetic determinants of thermoregulation in high-humidity environments. The findings will inform strategies to mitigate heat stress and improve public health outcomes in Ijebu North (Olu, 2023).
Scope and limitations of the study:
The study is limited to investigating human thermoregulation in high-humidity environments among residents of Ijebu North Local Government Area. It does not extend to low-humidity or temperate climates.
